A fun way to tangle is using the ancient art of Rangoli Pattern design (more info at Wikipedia).
Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent. Patterns are created on the floor using natural materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. Rangoli is usually made during festivals and celebrations. Designs can be classified into Dot Rangoli Design, Flower Rangoli Design, freehand Rangoli design, Ganesh Rangoli and many more.
The purpose of rangoli is decoration, and it is thought to bring good luck.
Rangoli designs can be simple geometric shapes, flower and petal shapes, or deity impressions.
This week we will adopt this artform to Creative Pattern Tangling.
Rangoli patterns are often created by starting with a dot grid. Here are some Regular Dot Grid examples:
And here are some Alternate Dot Grid examples:
In Rangoli style tangling, you either connect shapes to the dots, or you loop around the dots. Here is an example:
Apply any of the CPT techniques to the design and have fun getting creative!
