Adding a new pattern

Adding a new pattern is more complicated. We have to select a lot of tick boxes to get that right.

Right below the “Designers”, you see “Patterns”

Clicking it, you can ‘view all items’, or ‘add new’. Let’s add a new pattern. Click on “Add New”

Again, we have a title and a big empty box below. The title will be the patterns name. Ignore the big empty box. Do NOT type anything in there!

Instead, scroll further down.

The first box prompts you for the ‘Sample image’. These are the little square boxes that are displayed in the search results.

Click on ‘Select Image’. You will again be prompted to upload an image. The image must be 800×800 pixels and saved in black and white! After the upload, you need to enter the Title. This must be the Pattern name plus the word “Sample”.

Now select the Media Category: 0 Sample Tiles

If the pattern has a step-out on pattern collections website, we need to link to the image of the step-out (or upload if it’s new).

To do that, perform a search in the media library instead of uploading a new file.

As an example, I searched for C-Stem:

Clicking through on the images, you will eventually come to the step-out. Ensure you have a tick mark on it and then click

Repeat this process with Artwork if available.

Now we need to add the publication date.

Clicking on the little red icon will bring up a calendar.

Select the approximate date.

If there are YouTube videos for this pattern, insert the YouTube links in the large empty field. For multiple videos, insert each link on a new line.

Now we need to scroll back up and concentrate on the right side of the screen:

Select the Difficulty Level. (Click here to see Difficulty Levels explained)

Select the Framework(s) – Framework explained here

And the Shapes used: (explained right here)

And finally the Zen (explained here)

Now scroll back up and click Publish.

Now scroll all the way down.

We now have to allocate the Designer to the pattern!

Click the arrow next to ‘Post Relationship’

Enter the Name of the Designer (you should have added the designer already if it didn’t exist).

Scroll up again and click on
