Weekly focus: Folded Technique

As promised in the weekly summary, here is a bit of an explanation of what this weeks theme is all about.

The first time I realized the potential of this technique was back in 2016 when Erika Kehlet submitted her pattern Barrel Roll and Double Barrel. When I first drew the step-out for Log Cabin, it just didn’t occur to me that this can be applied to many patterns. Another typical example is Shattuck Barrelled.

I looked through the website and built a collection of all patterns that applied this technique

There are 2 different ways of adding this technique:

CPT Folded CPT Single Fold

Click on the step-out to get redirected to the individual page that explains both techniques in detail.

I am using the Amy Base pattern as an example:

There are multiple options for adding the technique Folded to the base pattern. Here are just a few examples:

Here I demonstrate on the base pattern Cornus using 3 different Folded variations:

You can also apply the technique to fill sections:

Feathered Spiral

The Folded Technique is very fascinating. That’s the reason why I encourage everyone to apply this technique to various patterns this week. Read up on Single Fold and Folded if you are unsure exactly how it works.

Enjoy your Sunday and the upcoming feature week!
