Feature Week: Aura

After we had a successful Mandal/Rangoli week, it is time to put our focus on something different. We are starting the Aura week! It’s easy and fun. Auras can be applied to any pattern!

Today I played with Floral Eight – a simple pattern that can do with some pepping up. I stopped right at Step 2 and found this to be a perfect example to explore the CPT Technique Aura a little bit more. Here is the link to the original page.

Adding an inner aura to the base:

And here I added an outer aura to the base:

Instead of keeping the distance of the aura the same, I change it to an irregular aura.

Here is another example to demonstrate how filling and shading can change the look of this particular feature (adding an irregular aura):

It really becomes interesting when you apply auras to other patterns. Here I drew 8 of Diamonds and first added the auras around the C-Shapes. I already like the outcome, but I took it one step further and added an aura around the figure 8 shapes.

Add a bit of color to this:

Or just shading:

Good old 8 of Diamonds has sprung to life! Just compare the original pattern. Isn’t it amazing what a simple aura can do?

And with this, I open the week featuring Auras. Play around, add an aura to a pattern and see how it transforms.

I hope I have inspired you once more. Have a great weekend!

I’ve played with Auras clear back when I doodled in a notebook back in high school. And that was in the late 70s. LOL! Remember filling up the entire page with one doodle and all its auras? Who knew I’d still be doing this 4 decades later!!!
