….haha.. I had you fooled! Did you really think it would be as easy as adding one new pattern a week? Not on my journey!!! I am so impressed how you learnt to make the most of patterns. Admiring your artwork, I really have to look closely to recognise the underlying patterns sometimes! This is good – this is GREAT actually!
And this week it won’t be as easy either. I would like you to play around with line width. Adding thicker and thinner lines. You won’t believe what a difference it makes when you start your drawing with an 0.1 nib and then go over selected lines with a 0.5 or 0.8 nib! If you don’t have a selection of pens, then just use your original size pen and make some of the lines thicker.
We will increase the number of filler patterns this week AND play around with linewidth.
Here is an example using Sandswirl:
The left shows standard Sandswirl. On the right I traced the outline of each Sandswirl with a thicker pen.
Above is another example using Diva Dance and Nipa. By simply adding one thicker line, more dimension was added to the pattern.
When working with the 7 strings this week, please apply different thickness to various patterns. Shattuck is a great example to use as well. Thickening the first zigzag will add a lot of dimension. Paradox .. the same .. play around.. maybe use dots instead of a line, or a dashed line if you want to keep the pattern in the background.
And here are the strings this week:
