Go-To pattern library – Part 4

Welcome back!

Wonderful artwork has been created this week. Many of you had such a great take on other patterns as well!

Today I picked a pattern that many struggle a great deal with. PARADOX!

I wouldn’t even call it a pattern … rather a technique to fill a shape. Any shape can be filled with Paradox. The result is ALWAYS guaranteed amazing! If you are one of those people that have struggled with Paradox in the past, please keep trying. This pattern is sooooo worth it!

More experienced tanglers might want to add to the challenge by ‘playing’ with Paradox – combining/merging additional patterns to give a new twist on Paradox!

On the above page I added Paradox to Huggins, Diva Danced the lines and added it to Shattuck. Shading can make a huge difference to this pattern too! What is really important however, is the first line. Depending on the location of the first line of a section, the pattern can turn out very different!

Create yourself a play page in your journal and experiment with the various directions of the first stroke, filling different shapes, combining it with different patterns, and playing around with the fill options. Don’t think you are copying other people’s work. It’s your play page and you can do whatever you want on it!

The same goes for using the strings – of course, if 50 or more tanglers have a go at the same pattern using the same string, similar ideas will pop up. I don’t even think it’s copying if you get inspired by someone else’s tile. As a courtesy you can always add the comment “inspired by”.

And here are the 7 strings for this week. Please upload your artwork in the relevant album in our Facebook group. And in addition to that create a normal post featuring your tile. Why? Because the artwork in the album does not show up in the newsfeed unless someone comments on it. So, let’s do both! And I will then grab the artwork from the album and post it on the website.
